Ben Kelleher was made managing director, retail & business Banking at ANZ six months ago, after Antonia Watson became CEO in the wake of David Hisco's controversial departure.
The senior reshuffle came after Hisco left the bank under a cloud amid an personal expenses scandal, and concerns over the bank's capital modelling.
Before he became retail boss, Kelleher was ANZ's retail and business banking general manager for Auckland and Northland.
Kelleher has spent seven years at ANZ. During that time he has also led the private bank team and strategy division.
He has held a number of strategy, analyst and project manager roles in New Zealand and abroad, including spells at Air New Zealand and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Antonia Watson said: ”Retail and business banking is at the heart of ANZ’s business in New Zealand, and I’m delighted to appoint Ben to this key role."
“Ben brings experience, energy and ideas to Retail and Business Banking at an exciting time. Technology is transforming the industry, enabling us to make banking easier, more convenient and putting the customer in the driver’s seat of their financial future.”
Kelleher has a masters in management, finance and economics, and a first class honours bachelor degree from the University of Waikato.
