Wealthpoint welcomes new director

Christchurch-based adviser joins Wealthpoint board as inaugural chairman steps down.

Nick Wells

Wealthpoint Christchurch-based adviser Nick Wells to its board.

Wells is a director of the Amicus Group, and replaces long-standing Wealthpoint director David Gyde.

Gyde has stepped down after six years on the board, including four as Wealthpoint’s inaugural chairman.

Current chairman, Nigel Rukuwai, said the board was looking forward to working with Wells and benefiting from his industry expertise.

“Nick has built a strong reputation as a business and personal risk specialist and is a former recipient of Wealthpoint’s Adviser of the Year award. He brings valuable experience from leading a successful advisory firm and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing advisers today.

"He will be a real asset to Wealthpoint in this governance role."

"As our first chairman, David was instrumental in establishing and growing the cooperative during its formative years. He displayed exceptional leadership, particularly through the difficult Covid period. While David will remain closely involved with Wealthpoint as a financial adviser, his presence will be greatly missed around the board table,” Rukuwai said.

Wells says Wealthpoint has a clear strategy and ambitious growth plans. "I’m looking forward to contributing to the next phase of its development. It’s a privilege to represent our members, and I’m excited to help build on the strong platform already in place,” he said.

Wealthpoint is a co-operative of 160 advisers across more than 50 independent advisory businesses nationwide, providing financial advice and insurance solutions to thousands of New Zealanders.
