A mortgage adviser who allegedly submitted a false gifting certificate for a client’s home loan application has been charged by the FMA with dishonestly using a document.

A financial adviser who allegedly submitted a false gifting certificate for a client’s home loan application has been charged by the FMA with dishonestly using a document.

The charge against Auckland-based former licensed financial adviser Prem Gounder has been filed in the Manukau District Court.

FMA head of enforcement, Margot Gatland says this type of alleged conduct damages trust and confidence in New Zealand’s financial markets and businesses.

“The FMA is bringing this action to both prevent and deter others from doing this and to hold Gounder to account.”

The investigation into Gounder’s conduct, and the conduct of people associated with him, is ongoing.

According to Dun & Bradstreet Gounder is Home Finance Company’s key principal. The company was registered in 2016 and has a Takanini office.
