Loan Market launches mental health initiative

Loan Market has launched its Best Interest Mates Community to support advisers and raise awareness of mental health issues.

Best Interest Mates community president Bruce Patten says the community reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting advisers and promoting mental wellbeing, while fostering a sense of unity and purpose across the network.

It promotes a safe space where advisers can be open and honest about the challenges encountered in both professional and personal life, while also raising awareness and funds to support men's mental health.

“It’s no secret, working as an adviser can be a lonely business - The isolation can be challenging," Bruce Patten said.

“We know that many Kiwi men suffer with depression, stress and anxiety in silence, so I’m positive and optimistic about what this community will do for advisers and the wider cause going forward.”

To mark the launch, Loan Market wrapped up Movember with luncheon events in Auckland and Christchurch, raising more than $8,000 for the Movember Foundation.

“I’m thrilled by the response the initiative has received from our Loan Market businesses and their generosity - it’s been inspiring,” said Patten.

Small business lender Prospa joined the initiative to support advisers. “We are honoured to be part of this fantastic new initiative for advisers," managing director, Adrienne Begbie said. "It aligns with our mission of unleashing the potential of small businesses.”

Best Interest Mates is one of several successful communities created by Loan Market. Another prominent example is Leading Ladies, which is also gaining momentum in New Zealand. This community empowers women in the Loan Market network to connect, support one another, and enhance their leadership and business performance.

Loan Market NZ National Director, Nicole Ferguson said the company is planning a full calendar of events and opportunities next year to help advisers connect with like-minded professionals, build strong relationships and enjoy genuine camaraderie.”
