Veteran financial adviser offers new coaching service for financial advisers

There’s a saying that old dogs never die - they simply fade away. Long-time financial adviser David Pine from Wellington has finally put away his insurance tools but doesn’t intend to fade away just yet.

David began his advising career with AMP, and later became an independent, dealing in Life and Health, as well as Fire and General. He sold the business in 2023 and has now retired from the profession.

David has created a new business called Pine Coaching Ltd through which he helps advisers to be the very best they can be. As a Life Member of Million Dollar Round Table, David has been a top producer. Life Membership is only awarded to advisers who reach MDRT’s strict standards  every year for ten years.

One of his favourite quotes, from an MDRT meeting, is “If you ever feel depressed, think of four things to be thankful for. It is impossible to be thankful and depressed at the same time.”

David is keen to help brokers who wish to lift their production year after year.

The areas David coaches in include: time management, building excellent client relationships, locating profitable new clients, the Six Step Process, body language, how to remain positive, and many more.

David’s method of coaching is to have an initial phone chat with the adviser to find out the areas they would like to improve. He then puts together helpful suggestions to lift production, and emails these to the adviser, later following up by phone to discuss the suggestions and pass on more business ideas as required.

David charges by the hour for work done for each of his broker clients. His hourly rate is a reasonable $65 plus GST. He expects contacts with each broker will not exceed three hours over a period of two to three weeks. His total fee is therefore unlikely to be more than $190 plus GST, and could well be less depending on the requirements of each broker client.
