Paul Huxford took on the role when Graham Ansell resigned in March.
He said, while the position is only temporary at this stage, he had applied for the permanent role.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to understand the organisation and the organisation to understand me. I was thrilled to be offered this opportunity to work with ANZ. What attracted me was the market position of this organisation and the phenomenal people we have as well.”
He said the investment team was functioning well and part of his role would be to continue to allow those people the breadth and scope required to continue to do so.
“I’m very happy to be here in a wonderful team of high-performing individuals. Morale is good.”
Huxford was previously managing director of JP Morgan in the UK and a director of Macquarie Group.
ANZ managing director of wealth Craig Mulholland said Ansell had left the bank in a great position after his 22 years there.
“We are pleased to have Paul on board. It’s business as usual for us as we go through the process of looking for a new CIO.”
He said it was an opportunity to look at what ANZ was doing as a bank and make clear decisions about its plan for the future.
